Party Wall Surveyors across England and Wales
Jackson Ross Steel acts for building owners and adjoining owners under the Party Wall etc. Act 1996, and as agreed surveyor for both sides where that suits everyone.
Party Wall Notices and Disputes
Have you just moved property and need some advice on party walls?
Or perhaps your neighbour has served you with a notice and you are not sure what it means. If the disagreement is about where the boundary actually runs, that falls outside the Party Wall Act, and we will tell you so at the outset.
The Act sets out a procedure for settling these matters through surveyors and a binding award, without going to court. We take it from notice through to award.

Legal Knowledge
Whether you are a property owner wanting to carry out work, or perhaps you are affected by work at an adjoining property, we can offer specialist, impartial advice.
We work day to day with the Party Wall etc. Act 1996 and the case law around it, and give clear advice on what the Act requires and how to resolve the issue.
Since 2012 we have acted on more than 350 party wall matters across England and Wales. Working in Croydon? See our Croydon party wall service. In north west London? See our Hampstead party wall service. We also have dedicated pages for Purley, Bromley and Walton-on-Thames and Elmbridge.
Recent work: rear extension, South Norwood SE25. The owner had served his own notices, which turned out to be defective. We re-served them correctly, worked constructively with the neighbour’s surveyor, and the award was agreed by both surveyors in under seven weeks, with no dispute.
Recent work: excavation beside three neighbours, SE20. The works affected three adjoining owners, including the local council. When one neighbour did not respond, we used the Act’s procedure to appoint a surveyor on their behalf, and all three awards were completed so the build could start on programme.
Because Property Matters
Perhaps work needs doing to a shared fence or wall but you're not sure with whom the responsibility lies, you or your neighbour.
Whether you want to build, amend, take out or extend a party wall, get advice first. The Act requires you to serve notice on your neighbour before notifiable work starts, and if they dissent, the surveyors agree the terms in an award.
You could also benefit from some of our other services. From structural inspections and designs to quantity surveying, we can help.
